Shareholders. Each Shareholder is represented in the Board.
Dato’ Wira
Syed Abdul Jabbar Shahabudin
Chairman
Dato’ Wira was appointed the Chairman of R1 International
on 24 July 2001. He is also the Chairman of MARDEC Berhad
and brings with him invaluable experience as the former Executive
Chairman of The Malaysian Monetary Exchange, Commodity & Monetary
Exchange of Malaysia and the Chief Executive Officer of The
Kuala Lumpur Commodity Exchange.
Dato’ Wira is
also the Chairman of MMC Corporation Berhad, Tradewinds Plantations
Berhad and Padi Beras Nasional Berhad (BERNAS). He is a board
member of Star Publications (Malaysia) Berhad and KAF Discounts
Berhad.
Dato’ Wira holds a Bachelor of Economics Degree
and a Master of Science in Marketing.

Datuk Dr.
Mahmood Abd. Kadir
Board Director
A rubber technologist by profession, Datuk
Dr. Mahmood has served MARDEC Berhad since 1975 and was the
Executive Director
as well as Group Chief Executive. Actively involved nationally
and internationally in the rubber processing industry, Datuk
Dr. Mahmood has been the advisor to the Malaysian Government
on various technical issues concerning rubber processing.
Currently, he also serves as Director in RISDA, Ansell Malaysia
Sdn. Bhd., Malaysia Rubber Export Promotion Council and
the
International Rubber Consortium, a tripartite cooperation
involving the Governments of Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia. Datuk
Dr. Mahmood graduated in Polymer Science & Technology
with a B.Sc (Hons) in 1971 from The United Kingdom and in
1974, he was conferred a PhD. in Rubber Science & Technology
and FNCRT from the National College of Rubber Technology,
The United Kingdom. He is also a Fellow of the Plastics and
Rubber Institute of Malaysia.

Sandana
Dass
Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer
Sandana Dass joined the industry as a “Rubber
Scholar” with the Malayan Rubber Fund Board (MRFB)
in Kuala Lumpur and trained in rubber marketing and promotions
in the MRFB, London in 1973. He served as the Director of
Marketing & Operations & Investments for MARDEC Group
as well as the Managing Director of MARDEC International.
He was appointed to the Board of MARDEC Berhad on 15 January
2004 as a Non-Executive Director. He has been a Director
on the Boards of various MARDEC subsidiaries and associated
companies in Malaysia, Thailand, China, India, Hong Kong,
France and the U.S.
With over 30 years of experience in the
rubber industry, Sandana Dass has been an expert advisor
on rubber trade and
marketing. He has been actively involved as Chairman and
Speaker in international forums on rubber marketing and
was the Chairman of the International Advisory Panel of the
International
Rubber Study Group.
Sandana Dass graduated with a Bachelor
of Economics (Hons.) Degree and holds a Master Degree in
Entrepreneurship. He
had attended intensive courses in top management and
strategic marketing in the Asian Institute of Management
and the
Harvard Business School.

Syed Munirul Hasan
Director
Syed Munirul Hasan is the Controller for Cargill’s
Grain and Oilseed Supply Chain – Asia Business
Unit. He also has Lead Controller responsibility
for Cargill’s operations in Indonesia, Pakistan,
Philippines and Singapore. Munirul joined Cargill
in 1992 as Country Controller for Cargill’s
operations in Pakistan. In 1994 he was named Controller
of Cargill’s Worldwide Rubber business, based
in Singapore. He was appointed as part of R1’s
Exco members since 2001.
Prior to joining Cargill, Munirul worked for 13
years with KPMG in the areas of auditing and consulting
at their offices in London, Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
His areas of focus were companies in the Energy and
Trading Sectors.
Munirul was born on February 12, 1953 in Karachi,
Pakistan. He became a Singapore national in 2005
and resides in Singapore with his wife Uzma and two
daughters.

Linda Widjaja
Director
Linda Widjaja is the Group Managing
Director of RCMA Commodities Asia Pte Ltd (RCA Group) with
global responsibility. She is
Director of Singapore Tong Teik and Tong Teik since 1998
and a Director of RCMA Americas, Inc. since 2003. Based
in Singapore,
she was appointed R1 Director in 2001.
Prior to joining the
RCA group, Linda lived in the United States for 25 years
working in the healthcare
industry.
Linda is a Singapore PR. She has a Bachelor
Degree in Science
from Rockhust University, Kansas City, Missouri, USA. She
received her Diploma in Law from NUS, Singapore in 2002.
She has 2 daughters. |

Toshinobu Handa
Head of Value Driven Partnership / General Manager, Japan
After graduated from Seinan Gakuin University, Japan,
with major in literature and foreign language (English)
in 1988, Handa joined Okachi & Co., Ltd in its
overseas business division. Shortly after, he was
transferred to its Hong Kong office as its Director.
In 1990, Handa moved back to the overseas business
division. During his career with Okachi, Handa dealt
in commodity futures market including natural rubber.
He joined the rubber department with Cargill Japan
Limited in 1992 as a Merchant and was promoted to
its Manager in 1996. When Cargill joined hands with
Mardec to form R1 in 2001, he was appointed the General
Manager for Japan. Handa also heads the International
Global Trading team. Handa has over 15 years experience
in rubber industry. He has been Director of the Rubber
Trade Association of Japan since 1996.

William Ho
General Manager, Singapore
William graduated from RMIT University, Melbourne in 2000 with a Degree with Distinction majoring in Marketing. He joined R1 International in June 2007 as a Commercial Trader and was appointed General Manager of R1 International Pte. Ltd. in January 2009. Prior to joining R1 International, he spent 7 years as a Cocoa Trader with Archer Daniels Midland Singapore, a food and ingredient conglomerate headquartered in Illinois, USA and listed on the New York Stock Exchange. William has over 9 years of experience in commodity trading.

Ling Chan Yew
General Manager, Malaysia
Ling Chan Yew, General Manager of R1 International Malaysia, joined R1 International as Commercial Manager in 2002 and has over 13 years of experience in the commodities industry. Prior to joining R1 International, Ling was involved in the trading of latex and dry rubber and was a Business Development Manager in Cargill dealing in grains and fertilizers. Ling graduated from the Northern University of Malaysia with a Degree of Bachelor of Economics in 1996

Surin Pisitpayat
General Manager, Thailand
Surin graduated from Thammasat University in Bangkok
with a bachelor degree in Economics. He started his
career with a Thai grain trading company in Bangkok
and joined Cargill Thailand in 1986 in the grain department.
In 1987, Surin was transferred to the Hatyai office,
in charge of the rubber processing business until 1992.
He was responsible for various commodities within Cargill
during 1993-1996, having returned to Bangkok. Surin
returned to the Hatyai office to resume responsibilities
in rubber trading in 1997 and has carried on until
the birth of R1 International. He has over 20 years
of commodities business experience.

Kennie Lee
General Manager, China
Graduated from Guelph University, Canada with Double
Majors in Economics and Sociology in 1984. Joined a
leading stock broking firm in Kuala Lumpur as Assistant
Market Analyst in 1984. After 3 years in security/shares
business, he has joined a Finnish/Malaysian joint venture
agriculture company as Marketing Manager in 1987. Subsequently
in 1989, he has joined Teck Bee Hang in Hatyai, Thailand
as the Business Development Manager. His job responsibility
then was to expand the business volume of traditional
market and to develop new rubber market segments. After
2 years at the head-office, he was transferred to Hong
Kong’s associated company, Fulltech Holdings,
to be in charge of rubber business in China. Kennie
has joined R1 Group in September 2003 as the General
Manager of R1 Shanghai. He has 18 years experience
in rubber industry.

Casey Oh
Global Risk Manager
Casey has more than 18 years of experience managing
risk in tropical oils, rubber and equity as a trader
and economist. He has rich experience in trading,
research, analysis, customer service and management.
Casey deals extensively with both European and
Asian customers, having been based in Switzerland
and the Philippines. He is effectively bi-lingual
in English and Mandarin. He has a CFA qualification
and holds a Bachelor Degree of Business Administration
from The National University of Singapore. Casey
is currently a member of the Singapore Society
of Financial Analysts.

Nguyen Dai Thao
Chief Representative, Vietnam
Nguyen Dai Thao graduated from University of Economics
in Vietnam, with a major in Foreign Trade in 1992.
He then joined Itochu Corporation (Japan) as Merchant
Executive. In 1999, he joined Cargill Inc (US), in
charge of natural rubber with the Agricultural Commodities
Unit. With the R1 joint venture between Cargill and
Mardec, Nguyen joined the team from Cargill. He now
has 8 year experience in rubber industry.

Lim Chin Chai
Group Financial Controller, Singapore
He is responsible for R1’s Group Treasury, Finance and Accounts department. Lim has 20 years experience serving as a finance manager or controller in the group companies of various public listed companies in Singapore and Malaysia. He began his career in 1990 as an accountant at Amsteel Mills Berhad, a subsidiary of the Lion Group. Between 1993 and 1994, he served as the finance manager of OYL Electronics Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of the Hong Leong Group. Subsequently employed as the finance manager of Hubei Zhong Chang Vegetable Oils Co., Ltd a subsidiary of KLK Berhad where he was responsible for the establishment of the finance and administration department from 1994 and 1996. Between 1996 and 2001, Lim served as the finance manager of Sichuan Kerry Oil & Grains Industrial Ltd, a subsidiary of Kuok Oil and Grains Pte. Ltd. In 2001, He was transferred to the position of finance manager for Kuok Oil and Grains Pte. Ltd. (now part of the Wilmar Group), a position he has occupied until April 2008. Prior to joining R1 International Pte Ltd on 1st December 2008, Lim was with Kencana Agri Ltd, where he was involved with the listing of Indonesian based Palm Oils Plantation Group on Singapore Exchange. Lim graduated from the University of Malaya in 1990 with a Bachelor of Accounting degree subsequently obtained a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Preston in 2004. He is a Chartered Accountant of Malaysia and a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.
